I modeled, painted the textures and rigged this character for my Unreal Tournament 2004.
But I got lazy and didn't finish all the animations. So it's not quite ready, but it's playable.
This project is dead for over one year and a half, but I guess I can resume it at any time, since I thought in the future and did myself normal maps.
But the goddamn rigging is F*CKED, since I started working on this in 3dsmax 7 and now use 3dsmax 9. And it appears it has errors. So I will have to reassign the virtual skeleton, perhaps redo it completely, and of course all animations will have to be done from scratch... geez...
Yes. It is in UT2004. But I was too lazy to do all the animations. I only made it walk, jump and fire its gun. I guess I should redo him... but make him less realistic and more freakish... fit for such a game...
Thanks! I wonder how I made him look so good two or three years ago. My skills sucked big time at the time... but I was pretty determined to see it done... And when I had him finished and ready to make him move, I gave up. I'm strange...

Damn, I clicked outside the box, typed backspace and lost my comment
No. But the game itsself is just a graphics engine. There is a built-in game editor, and from here you can access and modify the (sort of) c++ scripts that make the game be the game. And you can modify ANY script, build your own game versions, create levels and import custom characters into it, or even export stuff like textures or prop models out of it.
The game would run a lot better without me touching the scripts, believe me. But yes, there were some code lines to be written about the character behavior parameters and the special effects parameters. You got to know the game scripts to make effects like blood shooting out, or dust rising from the feet when running. Whatever. It's programmable.
And in fact yes! Of course you can program it. You can create a unique class for your character and customize totally game behavior. But since it's a first(and third) person shooter, I say the built-in classes go very well. You gotta program character sounds, but that's generally about it. Not that hard. Even a n00b like me could do a game character. And I was surprised by actually how easy and error-tolerant it is...
I'm talking nonsense lol...
Maybe I will. I should get a new video card, and then it would be a lot easier to work ^^

No, you don't have to buy it, but that's called "piracy". Now don't get any ideas. Of course I "bought" the game...
I may be a bit better... But YOU are the one that does programs for pleasure. I'm too lazy to program so I am disqualified... Conclusion: Norfie is better programmer than Fire. Uhuh...
Here's about the Unreal Engine 2 that comes with my game, and that I use: [link]
And here us what Unreal 3 will have when it gets released (U Engine 3) [link]
And here's from where I get my tools and plugins (only v.2 for general public): [link]
And here is the very very nifty tool that I use when I rip models and textures and scripts out of the game files:

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P

Did you make this for a game or something?
I wish I had your talent! DX

You should finish this! It looks so great! ^^

Wow, I wanna try that program now X3 Is it freeware/open source? Or do you have to buy it?
What do you mean a "a n00b like me"?! You are a better programmer than I am!
